Hours

This is a full-time position: Monday – Thursday, 8.15am – 4.45pm; Friday, 8.15am – 3.45pm (30-minute lunch each day)

Location

The main office is 151 Kilbirnie Street, Glasgow. However, this role involves some travel throughout our branch network. You will work alongside an Engineer who will collect you and drop you off at the end of the day back at Kilbirnie Street.

About the role

As an Apprentice Garage Equipment Engineer at Arnold Clark, you will get valuable experience within our busy Garage Equipment department, giving you the opportunity to put theory into practice in a fast-paced working environment. As well as receiving on-the-job training, you’ll be trained by EKGTA, a dedicated training centre, and be regularly assessed as you work towards an engineering qualification.

The role is ideal for someone who has a desire to work on practical tasks with hand and power tools, while always working to a high standard and delivering good customer service.

Day-to-day duties

  • Assist in repair of workshop equipment.
  • Complete paperwork and reports on job status.
  • Update branch staff on the status of repair or maintenance of equipment.
  • Provide and efficient service to the customer.
  • Follow all health and safety requirements.
  • Creating and maintaining budgets and timelines for events that you work on.

Essential skills and experience

  • You must have gained National 4 or above in Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject
  • Good levels of literacy and numeracy
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and listen to instructions
  • Ability to build good relationships with your team and other departments
  • Ability to ask questions and learn quickly on the job
  • Willing to use your own initiative
